Citation:
He displayed conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy near Soy , Belgium , on 23 and 24 December 1944 . Serving as lead scout during an attack to relieve the enemy‑encircled town of Hotton , he aggressively penetrated a densely wooded area, advanced 400 yards until he came within range of intense enemy rifle fire, and within 20 yards of enemy positions killed 3 snipers with unerring marksmanship. Courageously continuing his advance an additional 200 yards, he discovered a hostile machine-gun position and dispatched its 2 occupants. He then located the approximate position of a well‑concealed enemy machine-gun nest, and crawling forward threw hand grenades which killed two Germans and fatally wounded a third. After signaling his company to advance, he entered a determined line of enemy defense, coolly and deliberately shifted his position, and shot 3 more enemy soldiers. Undaunted by enemy fire, he crawled within 20 yards of a machine-gun nest, tossed his last hand grenade into the position, and after the explosion charged the emplacement firing his rifle. When night fell, he scouted enemy positions alone for several hours and returned with valuable information which enabled our attacking infantry and armor to knock out 2 enemy tanks. At daybreak he again led the advance and, when flanking elements were pinned down by enemy fire, without hesitation made his way toward a hostile machine-gun position and from a distance of 50 yards killed the crew and 2 supporting riflemen. The remainder of the enemy, finding themselves without automatic weapon support, fled panic stricken. Pfc. Biddle's intrepid courage and superb daring during his 20 hour action enabled his battalion to break the enemy grasp on Hotton with a minimum of casualties.

Halloween dance; Done!

14. Go to the halloween dance

So on friday, october 31st 2008 Farragut's JROTC had a Halloween dance. From the day that they mentioned it i knew i was going for sure! I wanted to dress up, but i didnt have any money to buy a costume, so that was bummer. The dance was going start around 3:30pm, so my friends and i decided to stay at school until it started. In the beginning of the dance, i was kind of bored because they were playing some lame music lol. But then once they started playing some good music i started dancing the night away. We danced to bachata, Duranguense, Cumbia, & ofcourse Juke Music! lol I danced with Pablo, Raul, Ramon, Edgardo, Erwin, Jessica, Lupe, [not Ivan! You owe me one mr!] :] By the end of the night my hair was all messed up and my legs were hurting so badly! But that proves tha I had a great time & had lots of fun!!! It's a night i wont forget. Next up is the Christmas Dance! ^-^

His Words

In Martin Luther King Jr's Speech, "I Have a Dream," there was one quote specifically that caught my attention.

"No, no, we are not satisfied and will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like the mighty stream."

This quote is important because it shows an imagery about how Martin Luther King Jr wants the African Americans to have justice, freedom, liberty, and basically the quality of having rights. Water goes quickly in a stream, so this means that he wants a difference and he wants it fast. When i heard this quote, i actually picture what he said. This shows how good of a speaker Martin Luther King Jr really is.

People cheered when he spoke this because they support everything he has to say. They were all at that march for a reason. They all believe that they should have the same rights as everyone else, and they are glad that someone has finally got the nerve to speak up for what is right.

My Poem

Everyone has a memory that they love to remember, but what happens when that memory is forgotten? This is my version of Langston Hughes's poem "A Dream Deffered."

What Happens To a Forgotten Memory?

Does it fade away

Like the clouds in the sky?

Daddy, what was your dream when you were younger?
Well when i was younger, all i wanted was to grow up. I wanted to be able to go to clubs, drive and be able to do things that older people where able to do.

Did you ever think of coming to America?
No, i always thought of staying in Mexico my whole life. I loved it there, but when my father decided to come to America, when i was 15, my family had no choice but to go with them.
Now that you are older, what is your American Dream?
Now that i'm older, all i want is to win the lottery so your mother and I wont have to work anymore. I want to be able to provide you with all you needs, so you can have a good future. I want to have the life that i never could.

Mommy, what is your dream when you were younger?
When i was younger my American Dream was

to finish my education & study to be a secretary.

Did you ever think about coming to America?
No, it actually never crossed my mind at all. Your uncle Carlos, was the one that wanted to come to America and help support our family. But when your father came back for me when i was 18 then i thought it was a great apportinuty to start over and make money to support my family.
Now that you are older, what is your American Dream?
Well its too late to go back to school and make my dream of finishing my education and become a secretary come true. But i guess my American dream would be to finish paying our house so i can finally claim it to be mine. I want to maintain my job, so i can provive my children with everything that you need, and to get the chance to see my grandchildren grow up.

Should undocummented immigrants be allowed to stay?

Undocumented immigrants should not be able to stay. One reason is because they are causing the U.S. to lose money. $190 million, about 25 percent, of the uncompensated costs southwest border county hospitals incurred resulted from emergency medical treatment provided to undocumented immigrants. In addition to that, the money that we pay for taxes is being used to pay for the immigrants that are being deported. If the number of illegal immigrants decreases then the amount of our taxes will increase as well. This will make our money status bad.

Another reason why illegal immigrants should not stay is because they are the ones who break our laws most. Hispanics are 3 times more likely than whites to be convicted of crimes requiring incarceration and 19 times more likely to belong to a street gang. Immigrants in the U.S. are 12% of the population, but yet 30% of the federal prison populations are undocumented people. It’s causing the U.S. to be a non-safe country. Criminal rates are increasing and most is caused by people who don’t even belong here.

3 out of 10 immigrants can’t speak out language. Why would they want to be here if they can’t even communicate with us? This just makes it more complicated for both of us. They could try to learn it but the majority of them decide not to. Instead they want to be strangers in our country and stick to their culture might as well stick to your country as well.

Undocumented Immigrants

Okayy; So this here is a video about Obama talking about Undocumented Immigrants. Now he kind of chooses both sides but he starts the conversation about the Immigration situation and how illegal immigrants should not be allowed in the u.s. Now i really agree with alot of what he says, thats why i chose this video.

15. Make tons of new friends

It's bearly september and i've already made tons of new friends. How did i do it? Well one way i did it was i've gotten involved with Farragut's Sports. I joined the volleyball team this year, and i've become friends with all the girls on the jv team. They are all awsome in their own ways. The time we spend in practices and games brings us closer and closer every time. We cheer eachother on, & have become one big family.

I've also been meeting new people by going to farragut's football games. I already knew a couple of the guys on the team but now they have been introducing me to some of their friends as well. I'm talking to people that i've seen in the hallways that i never thought i would have talked to. I'm going to try to go support other farraguts sports, maybe soccer next. It's bearly september, and i'm already excited to see how many new people i'll meet by the end of this year.

Now, making friends outside of school. I've been going to the little village boys and girls club on ridgeway and 28th, and getting involved with the activities that they have. Today, i joined their "Keystone" club. Keystone is a group that B&GC has for teens to share ideas, hang out, do community service, and do things to help improve our neighborhood. I'm planning on joining other programs that they have like, the graffity club, DJ Club, and breakdancing to help accomplish not only my number 6 goal, but to also help me continue accomplishing my goal of making new friends.
